Technical Terms

API

Application Programming Interface. Set of protocols and tools that enable communication between different software applications.

BAA

Business Associate Agreement. Contractual agreement required by HIPAA between a covered entity and a business associate that handles PHI.

EHR

Electronic Health Record. Digital system that stores complete information about a patient’s health, including medical history and diagnoses.

Cognitive Framework

Processing architecture based on specialized agents that coordinates analysis, generation, and validation tasks for clinical content.

HIS

Health Information System. Comprehensive healthcare information management system that includes administrative, clinical, and financial aspects.

JSON Schema

Standard for describing and validating the structure of JSON documents. SofIA uses Draft-07 to define clinical data schemas.

PHI

Protected Health Information. Individually identifiable health information that is protected under HIPAA regulations.

GDPR

General Data Protection Regulation. EU regulation that establishes rules for the protection and privacy of personal data.

SDK

Software Development Kit. Set of development tools including libraries, documentation, and components for integrating SofIA.

TLS

Transport Layer Security. Cryptographic protocol that provides security in communications. SofIA requires TLS 1.3.

Web Component

Web standard that allows creating custom and reusable HTML elements that encapsulate specific functionality.

WSS

WebSocket Secure. Bidirectional communication protocol over a secure TCP connection, used for real-time transcription.

Medical Terminology

ICD-10

International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision. Medical classification system developed by WHO to code diagnoses and procedures.

Clinical Coding

Process of assigning standardized codes to diagnoses, procedures, and other clinical elements to facilitate analysis.

Diarization

Technical process of identifying and separating different speakers in a medical audio recording.

Clinical Documentation

Systematic and structured recording of medical information about patient care, including evaluations and diagnoses.

Interoperability

Ability of different healthcare information systems to exchange and use data effectively and securely.

LOINC

Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes. Universal identification system for laboratory tests and clinical observations.

SNOMED CT

Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine Clinical Terms. International clinical terminology that provides codes for conditions and procedures.

Medical Transcription

Conversion of medical audio recordings into written text, with special attention to specialized clinical terminology.

SofIA-Specific Terms

Hallucination (Medical AI)

Generation of inaccurate or fabricated clinical information by artificial intelligence models, especially problematic in medical contexts.

handleReport

Callback function that receives structured clinical documents generated by SofIA for integration into EHR/HIS systems.

patientData

Object containing patient contextual information necessary for clinical processing, minimized according to privacy principles.

toolsArgs

JSON schema that defines the structure and validation of clinical data that SofIA must generate according to specific requirements.

userId / patientId

Unique identifiers used for traceability and auditing in clinical data processing within the platform.

Clinical Validation

Process of verifying the accuracy and coherence of medical information automatically generated by AI systems.
